Reggie: party trick included

My folks' poodle was intended to be a miniature... not quite the case. Large and strong, this canine is hilarious in his own practice sessions for the upcoming 2010 world cup soccer event to be held locally.

Here's a cute video of him doing his 360% spin, a trick that he possessed from puppyhood. Sometimes he would do his while progressing towards the gate when lured with a walk.

Up North through the Heks River area

Driving up North from Knysna through the Cape Province, here are some of the awesome scenery that awaits one on this beautiful journey.

South Africa's Cape Province is one of the most beautiful areas on the planet. When you visit SA, (maybe for the soccer world cup in 2010) be sure to schedule a tour through this awesome region. Be sure to pack enough film (or memory cards for the digital types).

And some more of Knysna, Cape Province

This place never ceases to amaze with its incredible beauty.
Below are some photographs taken at the heads and in the Garden of Eden.

A shot from the heads coffee shop where I used to begin my days. A great angle of the Knysna lagoon flowing into the ocean at low tide. It always inspired me to suspend my work plans and go for a walk on the beach, or through the forest, or over the mountains. Click here If you are interested in visiting this jewel of a location.

Here we have some houses at the Heads that are the envy of most South Africans. One can only imagine having the views these folks enjoy

An eroded piece of glass, backdropped nicely against one of the rocks at the Knysna Heads.

Looking North up against the rocks and mountains.

Anyone up for a picnic in the Garden of Eden, a most spectacular forest between Knysna and Plettenberg bay

The crossroads in the forest: one could easily get lost in this maze of natural beauty

A view from my window

One of the reasons why I feel so fortunate to stay in South Africa is the scenery. I live in Pretoria (renamed to Tshwane) which, as a city, has truly beautiful surroundings. Take a look at what view I wake up to every morning. The night-time shots are as spectacular, presenting a dazzling light show that stretches for miles.

Knysna: arguably the most beautiful place on earth

Knysna: wow... what a jewel.
In the Cape Province of South Africa between Sedgefield and Plettenberg Bay, Knysna boasts a charming collection of sea, lake, rivers, mountains and forest. I stayed in this incredible town for a year about 6 years ago.

Driving to work each day was the most incredible route through these various themes. A premium South African tourist destination and definitely a must for everyone visiting the Cape Province.

Below is the start of a pictorial journey around this stunning area. More photos and videos to come in future posts.

We begin with a video clip of the Garden of Eden and then some photos of the Heads, the place where the Knysna lagoon flows into the sea, with 2 very tall hills alongside the opening into sea, remnants of ages gone by where where the lake, much deeper was blocked off from the sea entirely.

Muckleneuk: exquisite greenery abound

A friend of mine stays in an apartment with this view of lush greenery. One would be forgiven for assuming this is at the coast, but instead in Pretoria which is fairly north in South Africa.

The same area as above, but from a different angle, showing the Telkom tower. Telkom is the current telecoms monopoly that whose power is only now waning, finally. It makes for a good shot though, this beast of steel and concrete, towering out above this lush forest-like bed.

Here we have a nice plant close-up shot with the Nikon on manual to obtain a good macro shot without autofocus disrupting things.
