And the architectural tour continues...
It comprises accommodation for students and a mall.
The architectural style is fairly distinctive and fresh.
Another shot of this building. It has several sections which makes for some interesting viewing.

Architecture variations...
Today I took a leisurely drive and snapped up some interesting architecture range. I would love for someone to provide some architecture feedback on these pictures.
A beautiful pond at the soon-to-open Freedom Park.
The Union Buildings. The Pretoria seat of Parliament.
Designed by Sir Herbert Baker beautiful style.
More about it here in Wikipedia:
Brickwork from the past
A statue in front of the Union Buildings in Pretoria
comprising 2 naked well-built men and a horse.
Interesting past...
The Police Monument in the Garden of the Union Buildings
10km away, Safari Nursery mega-nursery is situated. The most stunning environment to purchase plants and related items in!
At the same nursery, some very interesting 'rondawels' as they are known locally.
In Hatfield, the local student village for the University of
Pretoria and UNISA, a modern church building is being constructed,
symbolic of the renewed interest in religion they would probably like to
promote amongst students.
Some more architecture a little later...
BTW: Hi-res photos...
BTW: Drop me a mail on donnyjargo@gmail.com if you would like some hi-res pics. I've got a larger version of the photos on this blog.
Loerie: Bird on a wire
One of the most stunning bird species in Pretoria / Tshwane, the Loerie sports a beautiful spiked mohecan hairdo. Their songs are also most distinct and reminds one well that you
re in Africa.
Can a leopard change its spots
It could... but lazing around like this would not be a good start. Maybe meditating on ways to achieve this feat of magic
True king of the bushveld
With no wild enemies to bring this guy down, the elephant is an incredible example of untoppable grace
Long dong ellie...
Slowly does it for this tortoise
Fortunately this guy cannot roam that fast and far as his glass cage does not permit that. Incredible range of evolutionary expressions among the animals photographed on this scenic day
Reptiles abound
Quite a scary experience being so close to these snakes... makes one very thankful for one-inch plexiglass!
Cock of note...
Alfa chicken: The ruler of the farmyard! Trying to separate the ideas of Lunch vs Free ranging being is sometimes hard
Cute wisdom
This chimpanzee just personifies cuteness and an expression of intense cuteness. Huge mother! You so want to hug (carefully)!
Lounging monkeys
These 2 were catching up on some leisure time, pondering ways to escape from the cage of boredom. That's the sad irony of a zoo... on the one hand the wide variety of animals are available at close range, on the other hand the captivity element is quite sad.

Welcome...
Upon entering the Zoo one soon finds this 2m crocodile in typical South African style. the security industry has been booming over the past few years and many an animal has been rigged in for the cause. Interesting texture ranges across the various animals: amazing what permutations evolution portrays.
It squeeks!
Squeekie has come to cheer Hillary in lieu of her buddy going missing 4 weeks ago. They are getting along swimmingly! It's incredible how physically capable this little 7 week old kitten is. Felines are quite the specie to become sharp & streetwise asap.
Reason for the name: well, she squeeks profusely yet cute++!
Yet she plays extremely cautiously with me, toning down her strength and nail / tooth risk dramatically. Thats great! A friend of mine's little kitten was Mr Kitty Daemon from the go (meeuw)... and that's kind fun when they're really small, but from teenager upward it can become like having a pitbull puppy in the house.
And that reminds me of business idea #5243: Train domesticated cats for security purposes. I would rather be taken on by a mid-size dog before having 1 round with a pissed off cat.
But this one's an utter darling thusfar.
Here we have Hillary. Beautiful Lady! She's one of those beings that possess a highly significant mental connection with a person. She has taken well to Squeekie after the initial 3-day hissing and constant curve-back dancing routines.
Now they're buddies and both show an increase level of comfort and enjoyment of life. Such photogenic felines. There will be more cute shots of them later.
One of the stars of this Blog will be appearing either late tomorrow or early Monday morning. Candy has led me many a philosophical musings about the highest possible strength of a bond with an animal.
This Boxer (canine) is super cute 100%of the time. Dog lovers often tend to all respond in unison with love for the boxer breed. When we speak of Candy it is not as a dog. She is this intensely significant part of the family. Be sure to check back for that.
But first, to the Pretoria Zoo... what fun! A warm Autumn day with no wind, many photo opps and subsequently stiff legs from what feels like a 10km walk.
I'm kinda new at photography and invite suggestions to up my game.
But first... some photos of my area - Tshwane / Pretoria, South Africa
What great things electronics have brought to the field of photography. An old friend of mine was working his good quality manual cannon camera. I was wielding a fairly aged Nikon, yet very good for its time in terms of quality. He stopped snapping when his film limit had been reached. I continue happily snapping away. The info processing speed of it is its irritation though, thus ones timing has to be a bit more predictive. but anyways, enough of the tech.
Lets take a photographic absorption in my city. There is no copyright on these photos / photographs so feel free to use and share. The tendency for information to want to be free. Uhmmm...

And so it begins...
A friend has given me a rather cool digital camera recently and It has been most fascinating to sample content from my environment. I hope you will enjoy sampling these snapshots of reality minimally as much as what I enjoyed taking them.
It has made me realise yet again what a beautiful city Pretoria is. The perfect blend of scenic nature and developed city-life.
